WOLF-Garten launches #Giggit! to help encourage youngsters to get gardening

Encouraging young people to get into gardening is high on the agenda for WOLF-Garten in 2013 as it launches a nationwide campaign to find youngsters who are keen to turn green-fingered and grow fruit, veg and plants.

The garden tool company's #Diggit! campaign wants to hear from youth groups across the UK who have an area of land available at their youth club, or space within the local community, that can be transformed into a garden to grow plants and vegetables.

“Many youth clubs and groups across the UK help young people in so many different ways from group activities to learning new skills. #Diggit! will appeal to those groups and inspire them to get digging and planting!” said WOLF-Garten's Yvonne Weaving.

“Gardening is so rewarding”, she continued. “It offers a great feeling of achievement and is also a brilliant way to de-stress and get fit. We want to encourage teenagers to try gardening, to learn about growing food and enjoy the joy of creating a garden – it can even land a career choice or interest in horticultural courses. We hope that our campaign will inspire the next generation of gardeners.”

WOLF-Garten is a favorite amongst gardeners, offering versatility with its range of hand and power tools. Its innovative multi-change range of interchangeable tool heads and handles is a firm staple in the sheds of gardeners and allotment holders across the UK.

Groups that enter the WOLF-Garten's #Diggit! will be in with a chance of winning one of three top prizes comprising of all the garden tools and equipment they need to transform their patch into a fruitful garden.

“We want to hear from groups who are passionate about making a difference and are genuinely interested in learning about gardening, we're encouraging entrants to be creative with their entries and send photos, videos or recordings explaining why they want to win, the more creative the better!” added Yvonne.

A panel of judges will decide on first, second and third prize-winning group. Each group will receive tools, seeds, equipment and expertise to help them turn a patch of land into a garden.

Entering #Diggit! is simple. Entry forms and entry criteria can be downloaded from the WOLF-Garten Facebook page.
