Ossining, NY : Eco-Bags, ECOBAGS Brand, a small business, along with larger companies such as Method, Patagonia and Seventh Generation, is being recognized by B Corporation for “Best for the Environment." ECOBAGS® brand is known as the pioneer brand in the Reusable Bag industry, having kick-started the “reusable bag movement,” in 1989. With so many municipalities looking to reduce or ban plastic bags, reusable bags are now moving into mainstream consciousness. And, with the recent reports of factory atrocities in Bangladesh, the public wants to see and understand how products are produced. What B Corporation does is certify, recognize and bring to attention companies who can be socially and environmentally responsible business partners.
It is important to recognize those companies that use social responsibility as more than a buzz word, those that actually act on their promises and strive to make this world a more habitable place, focusing on sustainable business practices. ECOBAGS® brand makes good on their promise of, “cleaning up the planet, one bag at a time,™" by manufacturing reusable bags made of natural, renewable fibers and by practicing social responsibility and ethical production throughout their supply chain. B Corp awards educate those consumers who wish to shop responsibly how to do so. Because, without a third party reviewing - and rewarding those companies who excel – how is the consumer to tell between the real thing and a farce?
The ‘B Corp Best for the Environment List’ honors businesses that earned an overall score in the top 10% of all Certified B Corporations for their positive environmental impact, as measured by the B Impact Assessment, a comprehensive assessment used by more than 8,000 businesses to measure their impact on workers, community, and the environment. The analysis done includes metrics regarding each companies overall environmental impact, such as their products, services, and practices. This includes an examination of materials used, waste, water, and the energy input/outputs of each company; including their offices, plants, land, suppliers, and modes of transportation.
