It's here! Today is the first day of Green Office Week 2012 and to kick us off we're focusing on ways to save energy at work.
It really doesn't take much to start saving on your energy consumption - small changes can make all the difference to cutting your costs and helping the environment. So, with Monday of Green Office Week being all about ways of cutting down on energy use, help your colleagues to help you and take a look at some of our helpful hints and tips to get you started.
Don't forget to visit the Downloads Gallery for all the tools you'll need to get your office focusing on energy too. And, if you really want to impress, download our exclusive Green Offices for Dummies guide for a whole range of advice, hints and tips on saving energy and greening your office.
We've also got a fantastic tool for you to discover from our friends at The Carbon Trust - perfect for working out just how much energy you and your office can save. Just click here to find out more!
What's more, be sure to check back every day this week, between 14th-18th May, for lots of simple, practical ideas on a range of green topics: from recycling tips to ideas on how to improve your transport and make better purchasing decisions.
It's not all super-serious though - there's lots of fun to be had too! The Green Office Week Junk Modelling Challenge is a great way to start the week and create some team togetherness. With friends and colleagues, simply collect things from home and work that would normally be thrown out and instead use them to create your very own green Junk Model mascot! From empty milk cartons to broken pencils, anything that you'd normally just throw away can become part of your Junk Model with just a little bit of imagination. It's simple, easy and a great way of getting everyone thinking about the environment in a fun way!
And, when you're done, snap a piccy and upload your image to the Green League to win points and prizes - from signed books to Amazon vouchers to the perfect office accessory - an upcycled, quirky trolley-chair custom-made by Dragon's Den winner, Max McMurdo. And, if you're stuck for ideas, Max has plenty of tips and tricks to get you started with Junk Modelling here.
Whatever your plans, with Green Office Week by your side, there's never been a better time to create change in your workplace.
