Mind you, calling the law an ass is an insult... to an ass.
Benedictine monks in the American state of Louisiana have been told that they are breaking the law by making and selling caskets.
Yes, you read that right! The law does not allow just anyone to make and sell caskets.
I mean, where would the world come to if any Tom, Dick, and Harry, would could, would be allowed to make and sell caskets. We'd have no protection of incomes for the rip off merchants and law makers, would we now. And I am sure we would find that there are other laws equally stupid or worse even if we would begin digging.
According to Louisiana law only licensed funeral parlours may make and sell coffins. Apparently others would not make them to the correct sizes. Duh?
We can but wonder what else you can't make and sell without the “proper” license (and backhanders to politicians) in that state and other parts of the United States. So much for the land of the free, etc.
The US keeps telling everyone else that there must be a free market economy. Right... everywhere else but in the USA.
