Lethal operations against US citizens now legal

by Michael Smith (Veshengro)

The United States Department of Justice – or should that be Injustice – has stated that lethal operation conducted against a U.S. citizen whose conduct poses an imminent threat of violent attack against the United States would be a legitimate act of national self-defense.

This is one of the points that a leaked DOJ White Paper (Memo). It further states that overseas targeted killings of people the US considers terrorists or threats to US interests (though it may not be directly stated thus) who are U.S. citizens don’t need to be approved by U.S. courts, according to a U.S. Justice Department white paper. Nor do courts have the authority to block the actions, the document asserts.

While, currently, this may only apply to US citizens who are Al-Qaida leaders who present a direct threat to US security who says that, as drone killings are already authorized against criminals in the US, this will not be widened to anyone who the government considers a threat to the security or interest of the United States.

One could very well call this memo the rules of the US President to assassinate American citizens, abroad and, maybe soon, even at home.

The question as to what happened to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave is certainly a very valid one and the answer, probably, that someone was asleep on watch, and that would be the most benign thought.

Somewhere along the line the country that once was seen by much of the world as the bastion of liberty and the American dream has slowly turned – by increments – into a fascist state run by people, behind the scenes more likely, who are hellbent on power not just over the American people but the world.
