oneShirt Challenge Partners With Earth Day Network’s “MobilizeU” Initiative to Encourage Textile Recycling During Earth Week

National Clothing Drive To Be Included As Part of A Billion Acts of Green®

oneShirt Challenge Morgantown, WV, March 2012 : The oneShirt Challenge, the nation’s largest collegiate clothing drive, today announced its partnership with MobilizeU, an Earth Day Network initiative. Together Mobilize U and the oneShirt Challenge will encourage university clubs, groups and departments to organize a community clothing drive to benefit local charities and raise awareness about the benefits of textile recycling.

“We are very excited for our second year of the oneShirt Challenge and to help students and their communities become more aware of the benefits of textile recycling,” said Chris Yura, CEO and founder of SustainU, organizers of the oneShirt Challenge. “We are also very happy to partner with MobilizeU and Earth Day Network and to support their commitment to make the world a better place. We are glad that schools participating in the oneShirt Challenge can now simultaneously be part of A Billion Acts of Green.”

Building on momentum from last year when nearly 100 schools participated, the oneShirt Challenge expects more than 200 schools in all 50 states to join the inter-school competition during Earth Week 2012.

“MobilizeU is an international movement of concerned and active college students competing and mobilizing their campuses around acts of green throughout the month surrounding Earth Day 2012,” said Carra Cheslin, Earth Day University Campaign Coordinator. “The oneShirt Challenge is a perfect fit for MobilizeU and will be included in the A Billion Acts of Green report to be presented to world leaders at the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in June.”
