CELEBRITY ECO-DESIGNER OLIVER HEATH BACKS ORIGIN RENEWABLE ENERGY AS IT LAUNCHES ITS STRATEGY FOR THE MAGNETIC PARK ENERGY CENTRE
Origin Renewable Energy aim to deliver localised renewable energy capacity to new developments in the UK. The continued demand for housing and the need for economic growth in the UK supports the companies aim to create and promote sustainable communities that deliver eco-homes and back the drive towards a zero-waste to landfill economy.
Within the Desborough area, there have been several phases of housing development and in April 2011 an outline planning application was submitted to Kettering Borough Council for a residential-led, mixed use development on the land to the north of the town. The application highlighted an Energy Centre as a sustainable solution for the supply of heat and power to new homes and existing businesses as well as a sustainable method of treating residual waste that cannot be reduced, reused or recycled.
Origin carried out a feasibility study, including assessing different technology options and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to assess the potential for constructing and operating a gasification plant at the Magnetic Park Energy Centre, to provide this local renewable heat and power supply to the community.

The Magnetic Park Energy Centre will provide a more sustainable source of energy for local homes and businesses. Sustainability is often perceived as an impossibly large task, detached from local people on the ground, but the development of this energy facility and on going investment in the surrounding community will enable the people of Desborough to become actively involved in delivering a sustainable place to live.”
