Ant, who is also one of Sheffield’s largest employers, has become the lead sponsor of Sheffield’s 2012 Master Cutlers challenge. Each year it challenges local businesses to generate as much money as possible from a £50 loan and this year’s main beneficiary is Cavendish Cancer Care. Ant is loaning each business the start-up stake and has also pledged to sign up other firms using its outbound services, in a bid to see more than 100 companies enrolled. Businesses can sign up by going to www.mastercutlerschallenge.org.uk

Ant is also working with Sheffield Colleges and the Institute of Customer Management to give the long term unemployed aged between 16 and 19, the chance to attain a qualification in customer service and prepare them for a career in customer contact.

As well as careers mentoring, Ant runs a registered charity, Ant Kids, that helps and treats thousands of children who are poorly, disadvantaged and socially deprived.

In January more than 2000 children in Sheffield enjoyed a Christmas pantomime as well as receiving computer equipment and specially adapted push chairs.

Liam Smith, Strategic Development Director at Ant, comments; "Contact centre outsourcers are particularly well placed to support the vision of the Big Society due to the resources and the large number of employees we have. As we are already demonstrating it can really help society and local communities. Our focus is on our customers, community and employees and giving back to society is a fundamental part of our ethos.”

Ant’s commitment to building Community Spirit has been recognised by their award entry for Best Community Spirit being shortlisted in the prestigious 2012 Contact Centre World Awards.
