Amid calls from the NFU president for the farming industry to “help kick start our economic recovery”, official company registrations data examined by Duport reveals record numbers of new farming company registrations.
Bristol, UK, March 2012 : Companies House data for January and February 2012 shows an increase of around 4.3% on the same period last year, and the trend looks set to continue in March.
These figures are particularly significant given that the number of new farming company registrations on the Companies House official register for 2011 was up 45% on the year before and was more than twice the level seen in any of the previous 10 years. 1997 was the last time we saw significant start-up growth in the farming industry prior to this spell.
Duport managing director, Peter Valaitis said, “During tough economic times, it is fantastic to see such positive signals from the UK farming sector. The country will be looking towards growth industries to lead us into more prosperous times and whilst the growth may be new, farming is part of the DNA of the UK economy.”
Duport Associates Ltd is a leading UK company formation agent, trading since 1997. Duport registers over 10,000 new companies each year using its Companies House integrated systems. Data for this analysis is extracted from the relevant official company registers of England & Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The data is available under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Data Protection Act 1998.
