RESCUE Stink Bug Traps are the “green” solution developed by scientists and proven to capture stink bugs.
SPOKANE, WA, March 1, 2012 : Stink bugs are waking from their winter slumber with ravenous appetites and ready to cause havoc for home gardeners and devour plants, trees, veggies, berries and fruit and RESCUE! Stink Bug traps are here to help.
To date, more than 33 states have reported stink bugs, with the highest concentration in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, known as the “red zone” states.
With no known natural enemies in the United States, many frustrated gardeners have turned to homemade solutions to rid themselves of these destructive pests. From sticky liquids and paper to picking them off their plants and dropping them into buckets of soapy water, the battle rages on.
There’s been little hope of stopping them - until now.
There’s a “green” solution, the RESCUE!® Stink Bug Trap, that’s been developed by scientists, tested and proven to capture and destroy these wretched pests. It works outdoors to catch adult stink bugs and the ravenous younger generations that feed on gardens and fruit bearing shrubs and trees, attracting stink bugs for up to seven weeks.
“Now is the time to fight stink bugs to break the cycle,” says Rod Schneidmiller, president of Sterling International, developer of the RESCUE! Stink Bug Traps.
“Whether you use a homemade trap or one of ours, do something to break the cycle before they mate in spring, to reduce their numbers.”
Being offered by Sterling International, a pioneer in “green” pest control for nearly 30 years, the RESCUE! Stink Bug trap is the “holy grail” that will help millions win the battle against the stink bug invasion.
”We’re excited to be the first manufacturer in the lawn and garden industry to step up and offer homeowners a solution to their stink bug problems,” says Schneidmiller. “Never before have we encountered a pest that has so many people so distressed.”
According to Schneidmiller, the trap uses patent-pending technology that slowly releases a pheromone that’s odorless to humans yet powerful enough to lure stink bugs from up to 30 feet. The non-toxic action is similar to what Sterling has successfully used in other RESCUE! traps for Japanese beetles, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets and other pests.
The “war” with stink bugs began in 1998, when they first appeared in Allentown, PA. Since early September 2010, their population has exploded as they hitch rides and move uncontrolled across the United States.
“We are making the traps as fast as we can so we can help homeowners mitigate their stink bug problem,” says Schneidmiller, who says they are concentrating on the “red zone” states first.
He strongly recommends that consumers plagued with stink bugs buy the traps as soon as they see them. “From the response we are getting, these traps are going to fly off the shelves,” he says.
Sterling International became aware of this pest in 2002, as a result of working with university and federal researchers who saw a stink bug infestation as having potential to be a significant problem in the U.S. The RESCUE! Stink Bug trap has passed rigorous tests, including trials conducted at the USDA’s 800-acre facility in Beltsville, MD.
