Green Technology from Nisus Corporation shifts termite treatments in new construction

The 300 Million Gallon Green Revolution; One Millionth Home to be Treated with Bora-Care Green Termite Treatment

Bora CareROCKFORD, TN, March 2011: Imagine a 100-acre lake – that's about 300,000,000 gallons – and that's how much soil termiticide has NOT been pumped into the ground since this small company in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains started a green revolution in pest control.
Sixty years ago, soil treatments started as a way to prevent termites in structures. Three hundred to 400 gallons of termiticide would be pumped into the ground under and around the structure.  These soil treatments must be repeated every five to ten years, putting even more chemical into the ground.

One Million Homes Treated and Counting
On Thursday, March 10 in Birmingham, Alabama, Wayne's Environmental Services, a local pest control company, will treat the 1,000,000th home with Bora-Care. “It's quite a milestone and a reminder of how Green Technology can improve the environment and improve the bottom lines of many companies at the same time,” says Kevin L. Kirkland, President and CEO of Nisus Corporation.

Bora Care

Builders across the country have adopted Bora-Care treatments because they actually speed up the building process, in some cases saving as much as a day of cycle time. (Large builders track the amount of time it takes to build a house from start to finish, and that is referred to as “cycle time”.)

“This type of treatment has become a best practice for large homebuilders,” says Harry Bryan, VP of Sales for Nisus Corporation.

“These builders want to use products that have proven performance, are cost-effective and sensitive to the environment. They are best in class.”

“When people think of building green, the first thing that comes to mind is energy savings,” says Eric Frye, Business Development Leader at Wayne's, “but today’s green programs take into account everything from controlling water run-off to maintaining indoor air quality. Plus, builders can earn green points for using these types of green termite treatments.”

Wayne’s Environmental Service – Early Adopter of Technology
“Wayne’s was one of the companies who saw the big picture and began switching builders right away,” says Bryan. “Now they are doing more treatments than most of their competitors in the Southeast.”

“We found that builders were very receptive to the cycle time savings and the green aspects of the product,” explains Frye. “Our company has been a big proponent of Green Pest Management® practices.”

Demonstration of Technology Is Open to the Public
The home being treated is located at 615 Dulion Drive, Leeds, Alabama, Lot #65 in the Southern Trace Subdivision. The treatment of the home and a demonstration of the technology will take place between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and will be open to the public. Representatives from Nisus and Wayne’s Environmental Service will be on hand to answer any questions.
