Eco-Dogs.com Launches Site for Eco-Friendly Pet Owners

Focus on natural, organic pet supplies, products derived from recycled materials and holistic, grain-free pet foods such as Orijen, Acana, Taste of the Wild, NOW!.

Eco Dogs MOBILE, AL, March 2011: eco-dogs.com officially opened its web-based storefront Tuesday, March 1.  According to co-founder and professed chief dog walker, Marion Elledge, “the goals of eco-dogs.com are to introduce pet owners to natural, organic, eco-friendly products available on the market today, provide insight into how they can support a more sustainable environment by using these products and offer holistic, grain-free, gluten free food and treats that are a much healthier choice than those carried in your local grocer.”  Initial items listed in the web store include pet products, for example Cycle Dog, Ecollargy, Wagging Green, and Earth Dog collars and leashes, made of organic materials such as soy, hemp, 100% cotton, 100% wool and bamboo, as well as, others constructed from recycled inner tubes, recycled billboards, recycled plastic bottles and more.

“It is important to us to bring awareness as to how people can involve their pets in their eco-conscious efforts to prevent global warming and guarantee a sustainable environment. Thus, our slogan became ‘leaving smaller carbon paw prints’. We at eco-dogs.com are not only concerned about the environment but also the health of our canine and feline companions”, stated Roger Franklin, co-founder and vice president.

One reason to open eco-dogs.com grew out of personal experience.  The co-founders’ dogs Bubba, a Bichon Frise, developed food allergies and Blue, a Border Terrier, experienced constant digestive distress.  Their problems disappeared when their diets were changed to natural, grain-free foods.  Lilly, our adopted Schnauzer, recently joined the family and she also enjoys grain-free, gluten-free food with the addition of vegetables such as green beans.  Our dogs’ positive experience with holistic, natural dog food was the initial catalyst for us to begin this online business.” Franklin said.

On opening day the site features a number of brands of grain-free, gluten-free dog and cat foods, such as Orijen, NOW!, Taste of the Wild, and Acana.  Healthy, nutritious treats are also being sold. According to Elledge, “more grain free, holistic food products will be forthcoming soon”.
