Origin Renewable Energy has submitted its planning application for an Energy Centre at Magnetic Park, Desborough, which will provide renewable heat and power to homes and businesses within the local area.
Origin Renewable Energy is proposing to build a Combined Heat and Power plant, or ‘Energy Centre’, that will convert non-hazardous household and business waste (black bag rubbish) into heat and power supplied to nearby businesses and homes, supporting local jobs and offering a cost-effective alternative to gas heating.
The proposed 96,000 tonne facility will use a process known as 'gasification' developed by ENERGOS, a process that converts residual (non-recyclable) waste into renewable energy in the form of heat and power, minimising the amount of waste sent to landfill.
The Energy Centre will also incorporate a visitors centre that will offer training, education and meeting facilities to the local community.
The planning application for the Energy Centre was submitted to Northamptonshire County Council at the end of May and has now been validated by the Authority. It can be viewed on their website www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/planningapplications.
The Council will consult widely with statutory consultees such as the Environment Agency, Highways Authority, Kettering Borough Council and Desborough Town Council, and will also seek the views of local residents and other interested parties. You can provide your comments by emailing email@example.com, completing the online form on the Council’s planning webpage or in writing to Northamptonshire County Council Planning Services, Floor 3, Guildhall Road Block, County Hall, Northampton, NN1 1DN.
Desborough Town Council has also arranged for a copy to be placed in the library. The full planning application and further information regarding the proposal can also be found on the Origin website at www.originrenewableenergy.com.
