If pizza is a vegetable can someone please tell me how you grow it. Do you use seeds, or cuttings, or tubers, or what?
You may rightly think that I have gone bonkers here but the American government agencies have declared pizza to be a vegetable and thus can form part of your recommended “5-a-day” fruits and vegetable intake.
If the announcement would have been made on April 1st it would have been funny but... it was in Fall 2011 that the US government made this statement. Maybe, after all, spaghetti does grown on trees in the Swiss Alps, and here I am being sarcastic again and am joking.
One can but wonder as to the reasons and the lobbying that will have led to the US government agencies coming to the decision to declare pizza to be a vegetable but some serious questions should, must and need be asked.
While the EU officials that declared that drinking water does not prevent dehydration and that prunes do nothing for your bowel movements (more about that in another article) could be accused of stupidity the US agencies most definitely cannot be seen in the same light and cannot use that as an excuse.
The last time I checked pizza was not a vegetable and seeds cannot be had for it anywhere.
