Shorten your showers and conserve water while, at the same time, saving money
By Michael Smith (Veshengro)
In order to save both water and money take shorter showers. You really don't get that dirty throughout the day so shampooing your hair and having a lengthy shower isn't really necessary on a daily basis. Every other day, you could just rinse off and this would save soap, shampoo, conditioner (if you have to use it), and especially water. These little changes will help you cut your bills every day. Frugal Living means that you conserve water whenever possible and this in turn will save you money.
Unless you do manual labor in a dirty grimy environment or happen to be a miner then you don't have to wash your hair daily – in fact it is not good for your hair to have that done every day anyway. If you want to rinse off dust and such from your hair do it without soap or shampoo. In fact, instead of shampoo use Fairy Liquid or such mind dish soap. It is cheaper and works much better with much smaller quantities.
How to save power while having a shower? Well, use cold water. And, yes, I am serious here. I do most of the year with no ill effect and we have grown up like that as kids. Hot water was most of the time not available and so it was done with cold water. It also stops you and/or the children spend too long in the shower.
