The first ever London Green Fair has been announced, which is an exciting evolution of the Camden Green Fair and tens of thousands of visitors are expected to attend what will be the UK’s biggest free green festival.
The organisers believe the arrival of this large scale event is a reflection that London is becoming greener and this can only be good for London, for the country, for all of us and for the Planet.
The organisation behind the 18 year history of Camden Green Fair is proud to announce the first ever London Green Fair.
Spanning two days, the London Green Fair – powered by wind, solar and hydrogen – is an event that reflects the green aspirations and achievements of London, as well as providing an enjoyable and engaging day out for people from all walks of life.
Building on the success of the 18 year history of Camden Green Fair, the London Green Fair is a natural progression and exciting evolution for this original and great event. In the prestigious setting of The Regent’s Park, central London – with covered and open-air environments – the London Green Fair will be an interactive smorgasbord of both serious and suggestive takes on the environmental issues that affect Londoners.
Innovative and exciting, the show will boast over 10 different ecological-zones, and some firsts for London – the revival of Wango Riley’s traveling stage, featuring world music brought to the UK in fair exchange – plus the traveling bike music troubadours, London Permaculture zone, ethical fashion shows, health and healing area, speakers and conference arena with some very special guest, and a huge children’s area containing all free natural and organic play!
Festival Manager Sinclair Eiloart said “We are delighted to be planning this great environmental event, which we hope will grow into a unique showcase for London’s green credentials. We have some fantastic things planned to entertain and inspire the whole family, and best of all, thanks to the continued support of our partners and sponsors, the event will remain free to the public.”
Importantly the event provides a platform for over 150 different community and campaigning groups to reach tens of thousands of people over two days.
The event has the backing of important players in the ecological, environmental and recycling communities including the Legal and General, the Ecologist magazine, the Co-operative Membership and the London Community Resource Network. As well as supporters and exhibitors, specially selected independent retailers, businesses, small producers and green exhibitors from across the UK will all showcasing the best of environmentally sustainable produce, schemes and initiatives, allowing Londoners to enjoy an inspiring day out.
The event is organised by dedicated volunteers, supported by a small delivery team, and is set up as a not-for-profit social enterprise. It relies on the support of many local businesses and organisations, community groups and campaigning organisations.
The London Green Fair is London’s largest free green event anticipating over 30,000 attendees across two days.
The venue for the event is The Regent’s Park and the date is Saturday 4 June and Sunday 5 June 2011 from 12noon – 7.30pm with the cost of entry being FREE. You don't get many brilliant green festivals for a zero entrance fee.
