When the going gets tough, the tough get swapping!

By Michael Smith (Veshengro)

As inflation continues to rise, the stock market keeps stumbling and the economy slows further, http://www.swapz.co.uk has had another year of incredible growth.

Savvy internet users are swapping everything from motorcars to mobile phones and games consoles to guitars. In fact, anything you might see at an online auction site is being regularly swapped at http://www.swapz.co.uk.

They say the best things in life are free, and swapz.co.uk is 100% free to register on and use. This alone has driven our user base to over 300,000 members - many of whom simply can no longer afford the climbing cost of selling at online auctions.

Swapping is now mainstream. The domain of radio hams and trading card collectors has changed - the fashion conscious girls now swap clothes, petrolheads their cars and the tech lovers their mobile phones, games consoles, computers and last week's must have gadget.

In becoming Europe's leading person to person swapping site, http://www.swapz.co.uk has attracted a "green" following too. Swapping has kept many unwanted and unloved items out of landfill sites as part of the process.

Swapz' Paul Kay says: “Every year in January our growth explodes. We anticipate that the uplift in 2012 will be bigger than ever with more people needing to economize and change their consumption patterns. Every home in the UK has drawers, cupboards, lofts and garages of things they no longer want that can now easily be converted into things they want or need!”
Some facts about swapz.co.uk. According to their statistic it has 300,000 members and 200,000 live listings at any one time. They claim to have 1.5 million visits monthly and 1 million pages viewed daily. I do say “claim”, as I do view any such high claims of site visits with serious suspicion due to limits in technology. But that is neither here nor there.

Fact remains that it is, probably, a good idea...
