Monsanto drops GM crop plan in EU

Biotechnology giant Monsanto is scrapping plans to win approval to grow new types of genetically modified crops in the European Union. Please note that the operative word here is “grow” and not that it is abandoning plans to get GM crops into Europe. Far from it.

Monsanto says the move is due to the lack of prospects for cultivation in the EU.

The company, the CEO of which, so it is claimed, is to have said that there will be no food crown, no crop, to which they (and others of their ilk) will not own the patent, produces GM crops and agro-chemicals which are in wide use in the US and in other parts of the world but has had problems getting permission from the legislators in the European Union to grow the plants – in trials and others – in EU countries.

In Europe there have been concerns about the use of GM food products, and approval for GM crop cultivation can take years to obtain as the cooperation between Monsanto and the legislators are not as close as they are in the USA. However, the recently introduced seed law in the European Union which, basically, makes it unlawful to grow any plant, whether from seed or from plant material, even in private gardens shows that the influence of the large seed and GM companies is growing also among EU legislators, and definitely in the UK.

The Monsanto decision related to pending requests to grow genetically modified maize, soybean and sugar beet and it comes just days after the EU began talks with the US on a wide-ranging trade deal, with agriculture likely to be one of the toughest issues.

The company said it would now concentrate on growing its conventional seeds business in Europe but it will also look to get EU approval to import its genetically modified crop varieties from the US and South America into Europe.

In 2012, Germany's BASF halted the development of genetically modified crops in Europe and moved its European research operations in this area to the US.

As said, far from giving up, Monsanto will now look to import genetically modified crop varieties into Europe and thus get GM crops into the EU by a backdoor.

While it may appear to some as a victory the facts would point to a rather devious ploy by Monsanto to, as said, get their GM crops into the European Union via a backdoor and to market, regardless as to whether or not the people in those countries want it.

Another prove of the pudding, so to speak, that we do not need a new government but a new system.

Food control under way?

Aside from seed control in the European Union it would appear that attempts are made in other places around the world too to control the foods we eat, such as outlawing foraging for wild edibles, aka edible weeds.

In New York City foraging has been declared unlawful in the city's parks and open spaces and in Chicago, IL a man was arrested and charged with a felony in June 2013 for collecting dandelion leaves to use in cooking. As far as Chicago is concerned one should think that the police in that city would have more important things to do that going after a forager but – oh dear, I forgot – it is no longer the job of the police, according to a ruling by the US Supreme Court, to protect the people but to enforce the laws.

It was Henry Kissinger in the 1970s who said, just before the supposed “oil crisis” that if you want to control nations you have to control fuel and if you want to control people you have to control food.

While one may not with to engage in conspiracy theory here there, nevertheless, seem to be moves afoot in the food control department and soon it may be deemed a criminal act, or even an act of terrorism, to grow food crops (from seeds and plat material) not authorized by the powers-that-be.

Growing food will become, it would appear, an act of defiance and of revolution.

The government controls

The government controls our water supply (including, in many places in the USA the rainwater, making rainwater harvesting illegal), our food supply, our medical supply, our media, our armed forces, our police. They all our money and all of the most horrifying weapons on earth.

In short, the government controls everything, including and especially each and every one of us.

Do you see anything wrong with that equation? I do!

The fact is that we do not seem to (be able) to control the government, and that is what we should be able to do. They are, to all intents and purposes, our servants and not we theirs.

However, the way things have turned out, and We, the People, have allowed this to happen by demanding more and more (false) security, is that they are intent on controlling us and everything else.

Government control of everything is fascism, regardless of the color of the regime, whether it claims to be democratic, socialist, communist, or whatever. And, in Europe, this control of everything has gotten worse ever since the European Union has usurped the power that is it its to have and use and even more so since none of them – bar the so-called MEPs – are elected. The fact that they are unelected makes the unanswerable to the people and this is a dictatorship regardless of whether the dictate comes from but one man or a group of them. It still is a dictatorship.

The sheeple have been so brainwashed, however, that they are unable to see this and demand more and more security from the government, for which they are prepared to give up their freedoms and expect everyone else to do so too.

But, this is exactly what the powers-that-be want the people to demand and clamor for so that they, the powers-that-be can get more and more power and control over the people, all the people.

Oh, say the sheeple, but we all have to be prepared to surrender some of our liberties so that the police and the security services can keep us safe (from terrorist attacks). But by doing so we give them the little finger and they take not just one hand but both and take away more and more freedoms in the name of needing to make the streets secure, and the Internet, and this, that and the other.

They also think they have to control food by decreeing which seeds and plants we are allowed to grown (and thus eat) and which herbs we can or cannot use (for medicine). All seeds must be licensed in order to be sold and used, and herbal medicine has been outlawed to be sold as medicine, at least in the EU. Though, it has to be said, if the same are referred to as “food supplements” they can, for the time being, still be sold.

The government is trying to tell us what we can eat, what medicines we can and cannot use, what water we can use, and, no doubt, very soon they will tell us where we can and cannot live.

This is wrong and needs to change and this means that we need a new system; not a new government. We need no government, period!
