...we can't do that every day, say housewives.
by Michael Smith (Veshengro)
Many mothers say that they use processed foods to cook for their children because they do not have the time to cook from scratch every day.
There is, however, an answer for that and that is to plan the weekly cooking and then cook in advance, freeze the foods and then just reheat. Your own ready meals, so to speak.
There is, to all intents and purposes, no excuse of not being able to cook from scratch.
If you are too busy to cook directly from scratch every day then, when you have the time, cook meals, as I said above, for your family and then freeze those to be reheated when you want.
The greatest problems, however, are (1) that a great many mothers (and fathers), and individuals, have often no idea as to how to cook from scratch, (2) too many families allow their children to eat what they want (too few families now sit down at table for meals) and thus it is nigh on impossible for the cook in the family to do anything bar sending out for meals, such as pizza, etc.
Meals and mealtimes needs to come back, and hopefully soon, more or less around the same time every day, and make it routine again for everyone, as far as possible, to sit down at table to eat.
Our present obesity problems and others can be directly attributed and traced back to the way that our children, and not our children, eat.
But, I also live in the real world and I know how difficult, in today's world, it actually is for an entire family to be together at meals. Maybe we need to look at a way to change that.
