Some of the world’s leading sustainability experts and funds will present a full programme of workshops at the European Future Energy Forum London’s ExCeL Oct 19-21. Siemens, Masdar Capital and Schneider Electric Energy Access sustainable investment fund are among those participating in presentation theatres open to all visitors attending the event free-of-charge.

Masdar Capital will present on its venture capital mandate within the Masdar Future Urban Zone on all three days of the forum. The Masdar programme also sessions by the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, Masdar City, Masdar Carbon and the Zayed Future Energy Prize.
The Masdar Future Urban Zone will also showcase some of the world’s most innovative construction projects being developed worldwide, including Jerry Tate Architects who aim to design buildings that bring architecture and nature together as seen in work such as the Eden Project and domestic projects demonstrating in the latest series of Grand Designs (broadcast last week) which Kevin McCloud described as ‘the template for the ideal family home’. Other confirmed participants include Ergohome, HOK, Nick Hancock Design Studio , London Development Agency, Alsop Sparch, Design Engine, EAPPDC, Fletcher Priest, Axis Design Architects, YouMeSheHe and Living in Space
Schneider Electric are also offering a full programme of workshops within their Energy Efficiency Theatre, where they will look at the core issues of business and poverty and how to save and share energy through sustainable development, investment, knowledge transfer and technological innovation. Sessions include an in-depth look at the Schneider Electric Energy Access sustainable investment fund on Oct 19 and an extensive programme on Oct 20th, based around the ‘Challenges of a smarter grid’ including demand response management, integration of renewables into the grid, distribution automation and the Carbon Reduction Commitment. On Oct 21, the programme will focus on its ‘EcoStruxure solution for Green Buildings’, which looks at integrated solutions in building, options of financing an upgrade, regulations and legislations and energy efficiency solutions.
Siemens, the green infrastructure giant, will gather their experts and to host the Siemens Green Technology Theatre over the three days, Oct 19-21. The seminars will present their latest views and thinking on key future energy topics on subjects ranging from Smart Grid to the new emerging renewable technologies. Its programme includes ‘Energy saving lighting solutions’ by Dave Ellis, ‘Carbon Capture Storage’ by Dr. Hermann Kremer, ‘Sustainable Cities: European Green City Index’ by Stefan Denig, ‘The Desertec Industrial Initiative’ by Dr. Juckenack and ‘Marine Power’ by Dr. Tony Lewis.
The UK government organisation, UKTI, will be hosting three days of presentations in the UKTI Energy Igloo. It will look at the global transition to a low carbon economy and opportunities presented by Carbon Capture Storage (CCS), offshore wind energy and sustainable infrastructure. Sessions will include ‘financing a clean tech deal’, ‘CCS- opportunities in an emerging market’ and ‘Offshore wind-the business opportunities for UK and overseas businesses’.
One of the most hotly anticipated zones is the Green IT and Communications zone which will feature key players from Adobe and Apple Solutions Expert Dreamtek. There will be a full studio set-up and an edit suite, which will demonstrate how organizations can achieve emissions reductions. Confirmed seminars will include ‘The future of video production and video streaming for mass communications’ by Jonathon Eric Tyrell who is an Apple distinguished professional . ‘Green ICT strategies to reduce business travel related carbon emissions’ by Richard West of Dreamtek and ‘Web conferencing as the leading tool for virtual meetings and eLearning as an alternative to business travel’ by Will Cawthorne of Adobe System.
Transport for London [TfL] are involved in the European Future Energy Forum via the Eco Transport Showcase, where they will outline how they are contributing to the Mayor’s target of cutting CO2 emissions in London by 60 per cent by 2025. The Showcase will also display a range of eco-friendly vehicles, concepts and technologies. Confirmed vehicles to date include an electric racing vehicle from Imperial Racing Green, a green cab by Lotus Engineering, a Jaguar Land Rover vehicle in association with MIRA, the Aircruise concept from SeymourPowell, eco-friendly travel planning solutions from Carbon Voyage, concepts from Varialift Airships, electric scooters from
i-Scoot and Zipee bikes and the latest innovative technology from Siemens.
Rounding off the feature events will be a special day of roundtables, which offer an opportunity for forum delegates, exhibitors and speakers to host small, informal discussions that run alongside the main forum conference. Topics remain hugely diverse and look poised to offer substantial food for thought on the future of the energy industry and carbon reductions. Confirmed roundtables include ‘Climate Change – Too much of a religion’ by Adrian Hayes, ‘Organic waste to energy system’ by Jeffery Gale and ‘AIRE – vocational training for renewable energy’ by Dorlies Radike-Thiel.
