New Police Non-Emergency Number in UK

by Michael Smith (Veshengro)

In 2011 the police services in many areas in Britain have gone over to a new non-emergency telephone number, namely 101.

However, from what I have seen so far of this number it does not seem to work. In many areas callers to 101 experience a more or less permanent engaged signal. Not very inspiring this.

One can but hope that the police services get this sorted out and also that they leave the old, often 0845, non-emergency number in place as an option.

So far, each and every time that I have had occasion to use the 101 number all I have been getting is the busy signal.

A couple of more lines to this service might be a good idea as would be a few more extra operators handling calls.

The verdict so far of the 101 non-emergency number for the Police can be but one of “must try better”.
