American Meadows, like many other garden retail businesses often ends up with excess inventory at the end of a season. Instead of letting these plants, bulbs, and seeds go to waste however, American Meadows has decided to donate them and is asking for your help in finding schools, parks and recreation departments, gardening clubs, and any other non-profit organizations that could use them.
They're not running a contest, just looking for nominations of worthwhile organizations that might be interested in spring-planted flower bulbs, bare root perennials and a limited number of plug perennials to help brighten a suburban traffic island, spruce up a vacant urban lot, stabilize a stream bank eroded by flood waters, or add some color to a landscape ravaged by tornadoes.
If you know of an organization that could use these plants, all you need to do is go to American Meadows and fill out the form. All plant materials are ready for immediate shipping and should be planted immediately.
In return for the donations, American Meadows is requesting that recipient organizations publicize the donation via their membership or local media.
The deadline for nominations is Monday, July 11, 2011. Preferential treatment will be given to organizations that can offer to pay shipping costs.
