For many people, I know, the very subject and notion of population control on a national and global level is a very touchy subject and one that some get very emotional and heated up about. This is often due too the fact that they seem to have some religious or even just humanitarian thing about it.
However, our Planet, the Earth, can only support a limited number of people and many of our countries definitely have a limits as to space and resources; the UK being one of them for sure. Britain is but an island and there are limits to how many people can live here safely.
When I am talking here about population control on a national (and also international) level I am not talking about immigration control, as first instance, though for the UK that is also an issue, and I am also not talking “people control”. I am talking about limiting the amount of people in the UK specifically and in the world as a whole.
Britain, and even our Planet, has only that much space where food an be grown and also where people can live, unless we want to concrete over the entire countryside, and, as medical science has advanced so much in the recent years and decades (and let us not talk about the fact that often people are kept alive artificially) our numbers have been increasing on a national level and a global one.
However, if we do not act and put a limit on our numbers Mother Earth will, of that we can be certain, do it for us, but in ways that we will not like at all, destructive ways.
She has always done thus and is still doing it with floods, drought, famines, etc., with the only difference being now that we of the developed countries think we are gods and that we must interfere.
While this may sound rather uncaring and harsh the truth is that Mother Earth uses such events to self-regulate the population on the Planet.
Our interference in this process by sending famine relief which, often, causes the recipients to become so reliant on it that the – basically – refuse to return to their farms and such to grow food. Obviously, why should they bother if the relief organizations so nicely supply all their needs.
The Earth can only support a limited number of people as regards too food, water and other necessary resources and therefore we must act and also must allow Mother Earth to do Her own self-regulating process without interference.
Britain certainly has reached or is close to reaching its population limit and there are other countries that are in the same boat as the UK.
It is for that reason that we must look at limiting first of all the amount of people entering the country from abroad to live here and then we must also look at limiting our population growth in the country itself. We must do this if we want to have a chance in this country – and in the world as a whole.
The Gaia principle applies and the Earth can certainly be seen as a living organism and is definitely self-regulating as long as we leave Her to it. Natural events can and must be seen as part of this mechanism.
In days of old, before science evolved as it has, and before modern man thought that he is g-d, Mother Earth was able to regulate the affairs in such a way that overpopulation did not happen. The interference of modern man, however, has brought us to the brink of destruction and still modern man has learned nothing. He is NOT g-d, regardless of what he may believe and he must stop to interfere in the affairs of our Planet.
If we do not want Mother Earth do Her own regulating of the numbers on this Planet then we have to get down to population control ourselves and, the good thing is, that way it is less arbitrary than if Mother does it.
Without controlling the population at home and on a worldwide level there will not be enough resources to go around and also not enough space in general.
I know that this is not and will not be a popular idea, especially not with certain religious fanatics and zealots from which ever religion this may be, whether Christianity, Islam or Judaism. They will all claim that G-d told us to go forth and multiply and that we must obey that command. What will they tell their children when they cry themselves to sleep for hunger?
