Indigenous Peoples Prayer Ceremony Calls for Binding Agreement

by Michael Smith (Veshengro)

Copenhagen, December 9, 2009: Yesterday, Tuesday, December 8, 2009, the International Indigenous Peoples Forum on Climate Change held a cleansing ceremony for conference party leaders to cleanse their minds and spirits – for clarity, compassion, strength and perseverance in coming out of the COP negotiations with a binding commitment to Save Mother Earth.
This ceremony took place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, in the hall en route from the Side Events/Exhibits Hall to Documents Distribution area.

The Indigenous Environmental Network is an organizations of American Indians and Alaska Natives that work together to find a way of all humankind to live in harmony with and respect for Mother Earth.

One of the Indigenous Environmental Network's slogans is “Respect Indigenous Peoples Rights!” and one can do no more than agree with that as well as with the other of “Cut emissions – Not Trees” and in fact if we had more trees the emissions would be absorbed and would not be in the atmosphere.
