For those of us that wish to make the waste paper go further still as far as use goes why not try this little wallet for cards and cash. With some folding and a very small amount of cutting you get a rather good and serviceable wallet.
With the addition to using some duck tape at the most used fold, that in the center, this walled could be made to last for quite a little while, dependant also on the paper and its quality and strength used for folding the wallet.
I personally find this a nice and “cute” way to make use of the spam mail that the postman (or some other delivery person) put into your mail box. As a writer I also tend to get a fair number of glossy press releases on paper, yes – some still have not worked out that it would be better served on CD or USB stick. Much of that paper is coated with a very thin laminate making it non-recyclable. However, by printing the design for the wallet on it and then cutting and folding, something useful can be made out of it before it finally has to go to landfill or incineration.
I reused those pages of such material that are blank on the other side for the making of business cards which I then laminate, thereby making them very durable indeed and hopefully those cards will remain with the recipient for some time to come.
As said before, with the addition of a little duck tape here and there you will, depending of the strength of the paper, have a rather useful cheap little wallet.
What one of those would turn out to be if made from TyvekTM would be interesting to see, such as made from an old Tyvek envelope, for instance.

P.S. I guess that this would be great with an old map.
