Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II decided to ride public transportation to her annual Christmas break and retreat at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
Whether this is due to the recession hitting the Royal household's purse too or simply because she is going “green” we do not know.
However, this is very much in line with the way the British Royals actually can be and often are.
We all know how HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, runs an organic farming estate in the Dutchy of Cornwall and especially how he is for the environment and forests.
It was also said that the home of the Prince of Wales, where also the two Princes William and Harry grew up, has bare light bulbs in many places and it was not ostentatious at all in the private quarters.
Her Majesty may have been traveling in First Class on the 10:45 London to Kings Lynn commuter service and had a security guard sitting next to her but other than that she traveled just like an ordinary commuter or traveler on an ordinary public rail service.
All one can say, I guess, is “good on ya, Ma'am”.
