Finding creative uses for old items is nothing new to artists, but the spirit of preserving the planet is more important than ever before and GreenCraft Magazine is here to honor and inspire those who find artistic applications for normally discarded resources.
But you do not have an artist to recreate some of the idea and come up with your own even.
GreenCraft Magazine will provide ideas for re-purposing trash to treasure by showcasing projects where waste is re-purposed into ecologically chic creations. Last, but not least, to maintain the theme of recycling, the entire publication is being printed on recycled paper.
GreenCraft Magazine will provide ideas for re-purposing trash to treasure by showcasing projects where waste is re-purposed into ecologically chic creations. Last, but not least, to maintain the theme of recycling, the entire publication will be printed on recycled paper. The premier issue of this semiannual publication will hit newsstands August 1, 2009 and will be published every February and August.
GreenCraft Magazine is Stampington & Co's ode to all things green, recycled, upcycled and more and in this premier issue the reader will find over 50 stylish and sustainable projects to inspire him or her.
There are some very cute, for lack of a better word, projects in the magazine. On page 80 and 81 the reader will find “For the Love of Tin”. It showcases ways to make use of tin cans. These tin can baskets and storage containers are so cute you would never know there is a can underneath the craftiness. However, is there really a need to hide the fact that you have upcycled tin cans into something useful for the home (and even for sale)? I don't think so.
The “Cereal Box Chic” favor and gift boxes (pages 42-47) are also pretty and so practical, that you will think twice about ever buying a gift bag again when you have what you need at hand. Forget sticking flattened cereal boxes in the recycling bin from now on I am saving them and turning them into pretty little gift bag/boxes.
Aside from that there are some other uses too for cereal boxes rather than wasting them and that is tuning them, using a rubber stamp with your details, into calling- and business cards. They make great conversation pieces and at the same time you save money and – to a degree – the planet.
One of my favorites in the GreenCraft Magazine is the “Bringing Back Burlap” on page 106 and 107. I do love reusing old burlap and Hessian bags, such as coffee sacks and those from feed and peanuts. They have so many uses.
